Rohtak: A massive pile-up of vehicles amid dense fog in Haryana on Sunday left several drivers and passengers injured.
Around 35-40 vehicles were involved in a major accident in Meham area on a highway in Rohtak as visibility was reduced to bare minimum.
It started with a truck and car colliding head on, and was followed by a chain reaction in which a number of trucks, some buses and cars were badly damaged as they crashed into each other.
Videos and photos from the site showed vehicles badly crushed and people rushing to rescue the occupants.
Police and local administration carried out relief and rescue operations, transporting those severely injured to hospitals.
There were two other pile-ups in Haryana. One took place at Hisar’s Dhiktana Moda, where a Kaithal roadways bus collided with a dumper truck on NH-52. Another bus, a car and a motorcycle crashed into the truck.
The buses were carrying hundreds of people, but none suffered serious injury except the motorcycle rider, who was admitted to a hospital.
In Rewari, three to four buses collided on NH-352 due to low visibility. The injured persons were admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Haryana is in the grip of a severe cold wave, with temperatures hovering around 4-6 degrees Celsius and most districts experiencing heavy smog.
