Bhubaneswar: Hindalco Industries Ltd plans to invest around Rs 25,000 crore in various industrial projects in Odisha.
This was stated by Satish Pai, Managing Director of Hindalco during a meeting with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. Pai briefed the chief minister about the activities of the company in Odisha and future investment plans. He also met Industry Minister Sampad Charan Swain in the State Secretariat and discussed Hindalco’s industrial and CSR activities in the state.
Hindalco MD informed the Chief Minister that the company has made an investment of over Rs 30,000 crore in various industrial units operational in the state. For the key upcoming projects, Hindalco, the metal flagship company of Aditya Birla Group, plans to invest another Rs 25,000 crore.
The 3-MTPA Aditya Alumina Refinery of Hindalco at Kanshariguda in Rayagada district will have an investment of Rs 8,000 crore and it would have a significant impact on economic development in Rayagada and Koraput region.
The second apparel manufacturing unit of Aditya Birla Group is also coming up near the refinery which would generate local employment for over 3,000 women.
Pai further said the company is setting up an FRP project in Lapanga of Sambalpur district with an investment of over Rs 5,000 crore. Almost 80% of the project work has been completed and it is likely to be commissioned in January, 2025.
Hindalco also plans a 1000-MW floating solar project in Hirakud with an investment of around Rs 6,000 crore. In addition, the company is doing the expansion of its aluminium smelter at Lapanga with a cost of about Rs 7,000 crore.
The Chief Minister assured the Hindalco MD of all necessary support of the government for the project and stressed on employment of local community members.
