‘Naatu Naatu, a Telugu-language song composed by MM Keeravani and sung by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, is among 15 shortlisted in the Best Original Song category.
‘Naatu Naatu’ will be competing with, among others, three songs by some of the world’s biggest female music stars — Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga.
Voting for the final nominations will be on from January 12-17, 2023, while the final five will be announced on January 24.
The 95th Academy Awards are scheduled to be held on March 12 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
Director SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ has grossed over Rs 1200 crore worldwide.
Though the film lost out to ‘Chello Show’ as India’s official entry to the Oscars 2023, ‘RRR’ is being aggressively promoted in Hollywood and has been submitted for 14 categories.
‘RRR’ has bagged two nominations at the Golden Globe Awards.
The film, starring Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran, has found a place in Best Non-English Language Film and Best Original Song for ‘Naatu Naatu’.
‘Naatu Naatu’ is also in contention for Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards.
