History-Sheeter Injured In Police Encounter In Balangir
Balangir: A wanted criminal was injured in an encounter with the police in Odisha’s Balangir district on Sunday night.
He has been identified as Krishna.
Acting on a tip-off about his presence in Tusra, a joint team of Town Police and local police raided the area on Sunday night. Seeing the patrolling team, Krishna opened fire on them and tried to escape. When police retaliated, a bullet hit his left leg and he fell off his motorcycle.
He was rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Saintala and then to the district headquarters hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he had to be shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla.
Police seized a country-made revolver, two live bullets and a bike from his possession.
According to police, several cases of dacoity iare pending against in different police stations in Balangir district. He was involved in a dacoity of Rs 19 lakh in the Andhra Bank’s Badabandha branch in Deogan block and Rs 3 lakh loot from the manager of country liquor vend.
