Bhubaneswar: Elaborate security arrangements will be made in Odisha capital during the upcoming FIH Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh told presser on Wednesday.
The DCP reviewed the security arrangements in Bhubaneswar. A meeting of officials of Commissionerate Police (CP), CISF, and Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) was held to discuss how the players will reach the hotel and stadium with ease as the players of the foreign teams, coach and technical staff, and VIPs will begin arriving in Bhubaneswar from January 4.
According to sources, discussion was also held about the departure gates of the players, and regarding the bus stops at airport.
At least 50 platoon police forces will be deployed during the World Cup in Bhubaneswar. Two platoon police forces will be deployed in the airport only. Besides, police security will be ensured at airport and hotels round the clock.
“We reviewed all the security arrangements in detail to ensure the safety and security of the players. We will start deployment of security forces in the airport from January 3,” DCP told media.
A control room will also be set up in front of the departure gate of the airport where the arrival timings will be coordinated and security services.
Previously, a discussion was held with the members of the public transport association to ensure the smooth travel of the general passengers. The cab owners were directed to have cordial behavior with the tourists during the mega event.
“The security arrangements at the hotel will also be reviewed by tomorrow,” added DCP Singh.
