Holi, Dola Melan To Be A Low Key Affair In Odisha’s Cuttack
Cuttack: As people gear up to celebrate Holi after a year’s gap due to COVID, the Commissionerate Police has issued strict guidelines for the festival in Cuttack.
The rise in new cases has led to fear of COVID-19 resurgence following which the Commissionerate Police has imposed restrictions on large scale celebrations. As per the guidelines any kind of gathering or crowding in the city is strictly prohibited.
Similarly, no loud music will be allowed to be played on streets in the city on March 29.
“It has been felt necessary to observe Holi in a low key manner due to the outbreak of Covid-19. On the day of festival, public are allowed to observe the same in their own houses,” the notification read.
“The Inspectors will coordinate with organisers and ensure there is no crowding and Covid protocols are adhered to, stated the notification. As per tradition, Dola Melan will be organised in Cuttack from March 23.
As per the CP order, all the rituals of Dola melan shall be organised in a low key manner; The gathering should be below 200 in melan ground; Maximum 10 persons will be allowed, including Viman carrier, for each Viman; Use of lathi/stick prohibited; cultural function not permitted during Dola Melan; Function shall not be organised throughout the night.
The restrictions are applicable for public on Holi day too.
