Bhadrak: Two persons, including a home guard, were killed and two others sustained severe injuries in a road accident on National
Highway-16 near Charampa railway overbridge in Bhadrak district on Thursday.
The mishap occurred at around 6:30 am when the RTO officials were checking the vehicles.
A speeding truck heading towards Balasore from Cuttack ran over the van carrying the officials including home guard Akshaya Upadra, who was trying to stop the vehicle for checking. Following this, three other trucks coming from the rear collided with each other. While the home guard and the driver of one of the trucks died on the spot, two others were rushed to the district headquarters hospital in a critical state.
Vehicular traffic was disrupted on the busy route as several vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road for a couple of
hours.
