Home Guard Gets I-T Notice For Rs 54-Crore Transaction!
New Delhi: A home guard recently received a notice from the Income Tax (I-T) department seeking an explanation for bank transactions worth Rs 54 crore by quoting his PAN details.
Puzzled and shocked on getting such a notice, Sompal – who is posted at the district magistrate’s office in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli — filed a complaint to seek justice.
He met DM Ravi Singh and informed him he had received a notice from I-T Department in New Delhi on April 9, via registered mail.
According to the I-T notice, transactions of approximately Rs 54 crore had been made in his name in a bank account since 2018, but no income tax had been deposited.
Sompal informed the authorities that he has two bank accounts, one where his salary is deposited and the other related to agriculture as he owns about 6 acres of farmland. He added that he doesn’t have any other source of income.
The average salary of a home guard in India is about Rs 12,000 per month.
