Puri: A Home Guard sustained multiple injuries after he was attacked with a sword by some unidentified miscreants here early on Tuesday.
The injured Home Guard, Gunamani Rout, who sustained injuries on his left hand, head and back, is now undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital.
The incident took place at around 5.30 am, when a patrolling team chased two youths involved in the bombing incident. However, they managed to escape.
Meanwhile, Gunamani was on duty at the Masani Chandi Chhak. Seeing him alone, some miscreants suddenly attacked him with a sword. As he shouted for help, the locals rushed to the spot and took him to the district headquarters hospital.
According to police, some local anti-socials had hurled country bombs on Gokha Sahi under Baseli outpost limits two days ago over a land dispute. As a precautionary measure, police had intensified patrolling in the area.
