Home Isolation In Odisha: Know The Symptoms & How To Use Common Toilet
Bhubaneswar: While creating awareness on home isolation, Special Secretary, Public Health, Dr Ajit Kumar Mohanty on Sunday said that COVID-19 patients should completely isolate themselves from their family members.
Having recovered from the infection himself, Mohanty said that the patient in home isolation should check temperature twice a day and intimate the same to the prescribed contact number.
Speaking about the COVID-19 symptoms, he said that people should contact a doctor and shift to COVID-19 hospital in case of breathlessness and if their oxygen drops and fever persists. “The kit provided to people contain paracetamol, azithromycin, levocetirizine, and ORS packets to treat mild to moderate dehydration,” he said.
He further said that pregnant women, who have tested COVID-19 positive, should be admitted to COVID hospital. “There are guidelines to treat such patients,” he added.
Dr Niranjan Mishra, Director of Public Health, said that an asymptomatic COVID-19 patient has to stay in isolation for another 10 days if symptoms develop later and will be considered cured only when that person has no fever three days after discontinuing paracetamol.
In houses without separate toilets, he said that the COVDI-19 patient should use it last and sanitize it thereafter. “Closing the toilet lid when you flush could prevent the spread of the coronavirus,” he said.
Adequate sleep and a healthy diet can help in quick recovery, he added.
