Honeytrap Kingpin Archana’s Husband Picked Up By Police From Couple’s Villa In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a major development in the honey trapping case, police on Friday picked up Jagabandhu Chand, the husband of accused Archana Nag, from their Satya Vihar residence in Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, Jagabandhu was taken to an undisclosed location and arrested after being questioned by some senior police officers.

Archana and Jagabandhu have been accused of blackmailing Odisha’s rich and powerful including politicians, businessmen and film producers with threats of making public photos and videos of their intimate moments.

A notice was earlier sent to Archana’s husband to appear before them for questioning in connection with the case. However, he had not complied citing his health condition as he recently underwent an operation, police sources said.

The duo has caught eyeballs for their flamboyant lifestyle. They reportedly amassed Rs 30 crore assets, including a 3-storey palatial bungalow, in just over four years. Police found luxurious furniture worth around Rs 40 lakh, a fleet of luxury cars and SUVs like Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Thar and imported interior decoration materials during the raid at Satya Vihar in the Palasuni area. They also have four high-breed dogs and a white horse as pets.

Archana and Jagabandhu also own a farmhouse at Nakhara and have a share in a pre-owned car showroom. They started two companies called Additya Prestige Agro Private Limited and Golden Empress Pvt Ltd with their registered office in east Bhubaneswar in January 2021. The first company was listed as a wholesale business, the second was classified as a hotel and restaurant business.

Jagabandhu used to run a grocery store in Balasore district. The duo got married in 2018.

Archana was arrested on October 6 and has since been lodged in Jharapada Special Jail here with police yet to seek her remand for questioning.
