Hot & Humid Conditions Continue As Mercury Crosses 40 Degree Celsius In 12 Places Of Odisha
Bhubaneswar: With monsoon rain still eluding Odisha, hot and humid condition continued to prevail in most parts of the state as temperature went up to 40 degree Celsius or more in as many as 17 places on Monday.
According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, maximum (day) temperature crossed 40 degree Celsius in 12 places of the state.
Baripada was the hottest place in Odisha with maximum temperature of 42.4 degree Celsius. It was followed by Boudh with 42 degree and Nuapada with 41.6 degree.
State capital Bhubaneswar along with Bhawanipatna and Sundargarh recorded 41 degree Celsius. Paralakhemundi, Angul and Dhenkanal registered 40.7 degree while Khurda and Jagatsinghpur recorded 40.5 degree Celsius, followed by and Sonepur with 40.2 degree.
The IMD has issued yellow warning and said thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely at one or two places in the districts of Khurda, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Boudh and Kalahandi by 8.30 am on Tuesday.
The Met office also forecast that humid weather condition is likely to prevail at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati during the period.
