Berhampur: The Ganjam administration on Saturday sealed Hotel Mayfair at Gopalpur in Odisha’s Ganjam district for seven days for violation of COVID-19 guidelines during a wedding held on its premises.
A video of the wedding had earlier gone viral and the revellers were seen without masks and not adhering to the social distancing norms during the procession on Thursday.
“Hotel Mayfair Gopalpur sealed for 7 days for violation of social distancing for the arrangement of marriage. We won’t tolerate these type of violations. We again request all to follow social distancing norms & don’t put your life in risk in corona scenario,” Collector & District Magistrate, Ganjam, tweeted
In a related development, Gopalpur police on Saturday registered a case and arrested the father and uncle of the groom.
The administration had earlier slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on both the parties and the car used by the groom was impounded.
