Hours After Sacking Cabin Crew Over Mass Sick Leave, Air India Express To Reinstate All Of Them

Mumbai: Hours after Air India Express announced termination of services of 30 cabin crew members for going on mass sick leave without notice, the Tata Group-owned airline agreed to reinstate all sacked staff with immediate effect.

The decision to recall its sacking order was taken after Air India Express management met the protesting crew at a meeting convened by the Chief Labour Commissioner on Thursday afternoon.

The airline had given an ultimatum to remaining crew members who reported sick to rejoin duty by 4 pm on Thursday, or face termination, reported PTI.

Over 100 flights were cancelled and many others delayed since Tuesday night as passengers were left stranded at airports following the senior crew’s mass leave move.

Air India Express released a revised flight schedule and advised passengers to check if their flight was affected by the disruption before heading to the airport.

“We are also accommodating affected guests on alternative flights, including those of Group airlines, to ensure they reach their destinations at the earliest,” Air India Express stated.
