Baripada: A House Surgeon was found dead in a hostel room at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada town of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Friday.
The deceased, identified as Sachin Kumar Sahoo of Keonjhar, was working as a House Surgeon at the medical college after completion of MBBS.
Sachin went to his hostel room after completing his duty hours at the hospital in the afternoon. However, he did not come out of his room till evening.
His friends did not get any response when they knocked on the door of his hostel room. Later, they broke open the room window to find him hanging from the ceiling fan.
Sachin was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
On being informed, police reached the site and launched an investigation into the incident. While it is suspected to be a case of suicide, the exact reason will be ascertained after a thorough probe, police said.
