HRD Minister Appreciates Students Opting Out Of Studying Abroad

New Delhi: Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has appreciated the students who have decided to study in India instead of going abroad, claiming that several national institutes of the country are now bracketed in top educational centres in the world.

In a conversation with students and parents through Doordarshan, Pokhriyal said the educational institutions in India can compete with world class institutions in terms of infrastructure, facilities and faculty. He cited the examples of IIMs, IITs and NITs in this regard.

On CBSE board examinations in 2021, the minister said, “We will first deal with the present situation and ongoing sessions in the current year for now and in time we will inform you about the examinations to be held next year.”

Speaking on the “Manodarpan” initiative by the industry which focuses on taking care of students’ mental health, the minister said, “It will guide the students on strengthening their “mann” or heart and feelings. It will motivate the individual and help him learn how to deal with stress and ongoing COVID-19 crisis.”

The minister said the new education policy will be based on knowledge and research. It has been formulated with suggestions from students, teachers, educators, researchers, NGOs and gram samitis, he added.

For those who seek to clear their doubts with him, he is always accessible through his Twitter handle and people may post their queries there, the minister said.
