Husband Suffocates Govt Officer To Death For Not Making Him Bank Nominee

Bhopal: A man allegedly killed his wife, a female sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), for not making him the nominee in service, insurance and bank records.

SDM Nisha Napit (51), posted in Shahpura in Madhya Pradesh’s Dindori district, got married to 45-year-old Manish Sharma, a property dealer, through a social media site in 2020, reported PTI.

Differences cropped up between the couple as Nisha refused to oblige Manish even after repeated demands to make him the nominee, Superintendent of Police Akhil Patel told newspersons.

On Sunday, Manish suffocated his wife with a pillow and kept the corpse at home for six hours before taking the body to a community health centre.

Doctors got suspicious and alerted police, the SP informed.

Before taking Nisha’s body to health centre, Manish washed her blood-stained clothes and the pillow in a washing machine, said the SP.

“Based on our probe and leads gathered from the spot, we questioned Manish Sharma and then arrested him. He has been charged with murder, dowry-related death, destroying evidence and other offences,” the police officer said.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mukesh Shrivastava congratulated the investigating team for solving the case in 24 hours and announced a reward of Rs 20,000.
