Bengaluru: The Fly91 Airlines flight IC3401 (ATR turboprop AT7), which flew out of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on Sunday for Hubbali, faced bad weather. The pilot, according to reports, had to abort landing.
The flight remained airborne for nearly four hours. Videos of tense passengers have gone viral on social media as the flight hovered over Mundgod, Davanagere, and Shivamogga.
The flight was scheduled to land in Hubballi around 4:30 PM. But it remained airborne for about four hours, reported NDTV.
Efforts were made to manage the situation and ensure a safe landing.
“There was zero compromise to safety. Holding the aircraft over Hubballi and diverting to Bengaluru was part of the standard operating procedure. This is among the best practices adopted by the industry,” a statement from the airlines stated.
The aircraft was diverted to Bengaluru and landed in the evening.
