Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader Niranjan Patnaik on Monday said he had resigned as the president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) the day election results were announced.
“I had sent my resignation letter to my party supremo on the day the results of the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Odisha were announced. But the party supremo is yet to accept my resignation. During my trip to New Delhi on three occasions, I have requested the party supremo to accept the resignation. I had also reiterated my request to the party chief in Delhi on Sunday,” Niranjan told mediapersons here.
To a question on the abrogation of Article 370, the Congress leader said the manner in which the Centre scrapped it was not correct.
He, however, came down heavily on the BJP on this matter.
“The saffron party has not told the people as to why Article 370 was enforced for the state of Jammu and Kashmir. On the other hand, it has launched a vilification campaign against the Gandhi and Nehru families in an attempt to win the trust of the people,” Niranjan pointed out.
