Washington: Donald Trump will on Tuesday complete 100 days in office in his second term as US President.
Driven by his ‘America First’ and Make America Great Again’ agenda, which helped the Republican candidate sweep the election last November, Trump has implemented bold and controversial policies that have sent ripples within the US and across the world.
Having no qualms about using his executive power to push through sweeping reforms, Trump’s aggressive domestic and foreign policies have triggered tensions globally, especially after his currently on-hold ‘tariff war’ on 60 countries and trading blocs.
Trump, who first served as President from 2017-2021 beating Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton before grudgingly losing the November 2020 election to Joe Biden, is proud of what he has been able to achieve in just over three months since his inauguration on January 20.
Even as his approval rating has dipped to 41 per cent – the lowest for any newly-elected President after 100 days in office dating back to at least Dwight Eisenhower – according to a CNN poll, Trump is extremely satisfied with his work.
Noting that second term felt different from his first, Trump said he is now not just running the country, but the world.
“The first time, I had two things to do — run the country and survive; I had all these crooked guys. And the second time, I run the country and the world,” Trump told The Atlantic in an exclusive interview, sounding like a narcissist.
“I’m having a lot of fun, considering what I do… You know, what I do is such serious stuff,” added Trump.
