I Was Trembling To Approach Kapil Sharma, Says Zwigato’s Odia Child Star Omm

Bhubaneswar: Odia boy Omm, who has shot to fame for his stellar role as a child artist in Kapil Sharma starrer ‘Zwigato’, was mortally afraid of approaching the comedy king initially.

Sharing his experience at a felicitation ceremony in Bhubaneswar on Friday, Sriman Prajwal Sahoo with nickname Omm said, “I enjoyed acting with Kapil in my debut movie. I never had any acting experience. But as the shooting rolled on, I could manage to act successfully.”

“When for the first time I saw Kapil Sharma live, I was trembling with fear to approach him. After all, he is ‘the Kapil Shrma’. Then I took selfie with him and interacted with him, thus gaining confidence,” said the 13-year-old boy from Cuttack while speaking to a local TV channel.

“Kapil is a very humble person and has no star hangover. I look up to him as my Guru and he considers me as his student. It was fun and a great experience to work with him,” Omm said.

On his future plans, he said, “I will try my level best to continue acting with my studies. Especially, I am interested to act in an Odia movie with orginal story.”

Omm was selected in the audition from KIIT International School when he was a student of KIIT in the age category 12-15. Born to a rich family, his grandfather Dr Sarat Ku Sahoo is the managing director of Ruchi Foodline. Omm’s father Arbind Sahoo and mother Salina Sahoo are also involved in the family business.

“Besides my parents, my grandmother Sangita Sahoo and Rashmi Sahoo have encouraged me a lot for this new challenge,” said the child star.

Odisha Film festivals & Awards (OFFA) and Team White Canvas Event felicitated Omm at the function. Ullash Behura, chairman of OFFA; Bapu Lenka, president of OFFA; Chintu Mishra, director of OFFA; Sritam Das, general secretary of Odisha Film Artists Association; actor Subhasish Sharma and Producer Sanjay Nayak were present.

Eminent actress & Director of Bollywood Nandita Das directed the film and it is releasing today (17.03.2023) on theatres. Most of the parts of the film were shot in Bhubaneswar & Omm has played a vital role in this movie by casting as the son of comedy king Kapil.

The film, which marks actress Nandita Das’ third directorial film, had a limited release, hitting only 409 screens on Friday.

Based in Odisha, Zwigato revolves around Manas (played by Kapil Sharma) who trying to make ends meet as a food delivery man after he lost his job at a factory. Moving from Jharkhand to Odisha in the hopes of a better standard of living, Manas is the sole breadwinner of a family of five, which includes his wife Pratima (played by Shahana Goswami), their two children, and his ailing mother. The film focuses on the social-economic problems faced by the working class.

Zwigato is directed and written by Nandita Das, and produced by Applause Entertainment and Nandita Das Initiatives.
