Identified: Gene That Increases Risk Of Death From COVID; Could Be Present In 27% Indian Population

New Delhi: Polish scientists said they have discovered a gene that more than doubles the risk of falling severely ill or even dying from Covid-19, the Bloomberg reported.

The Medical University of Bialystok researchers said the gene could be present in about 14 per cent of the Polish population, 9 per cent in Europe and 27 per cent in India.

It’s the fourth most important factor to determine the severity of COVID-19 infection after age, weight and gender, the report said.
