IIT Bhubaneswar Shifted To Its Permanent Campus At Argul
Bhubaneswar: On the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra, The Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar announced the final shifting of its central administration from Toshali Bhawan located here to the permanent campus at Argul on Saturday.
The institute will now be made fully operational at its green, inspiring and lustrous campus, informed IIT Bhubaneswar Director Professor RV Raja Kumar.
The institute started its first operation from this campus on July 18, 2015.
RV Raja Kumar said, “It gives us a great sense of achievement that IIT Bhubaneswar could graduate from a non-habitable place to an inspiring campus within a short period of three years. It marks the beginning of an era in the history of IIT Bhubaneswar to occupy its own land finally.”
He thanked the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) for its support in granting adequate funds to the tune of Rs 850 crore for Phase-2 of the construction and towards making the institute self-sufficient. He also thanked the state government for its support in bringing up the institute.
The institute comprises new state-of-the-art hostels, a lecture hall, new schools, adequate staff and faculty quarters, a central research facility, a 1,500-seat auditorium and expansion of existing school buildings besides many others with modern architecture.
Prof RV Raja Kumar informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consented to pay a visit to the institute to dedicate the building to the nation. The visit may happen any time.
