Cuttack: Preparations for the first T20 International between India and South Africa at Barabati Stadium here on December 9 are well underway.
On Friday, an eight-member technical team from IIT-Bhubaneswar visited the stadium to assess the condition of the galleries and other infrastructure.
With a capacity crowd of around 45,000 expected for the highly-anticipated contest, the focus is on spectator safety for the high-profile international fixture.
The team of experts from IIT examined several critical areas of the stadium, including spectator galleries, corporate boxes, VVIP enclosure and the main pavilion.
The IIT team will submit a comprehensive report to the Odisha government, giving its observations and recommending changes, if any, to ensure smooth conduct of the match.
Necessary measures will be taken based on the IIT team’s recommendations, Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) officials have assured.
