Cuttack:The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch busted an illegal gun manufacturing unit at Bayalis Mouza area in Cuttack in the early hours of Thursday.
According to sources, four persons, including the factory owner Saroj Chandra Behera, have been detained and more than 30 pistols seized during the joint raid by Crime Branch STF and Bayalis Mouza police on the unit inside a makeshift hut near a cattle shed at the edge of a village, about 2 km from the local police station.
The team also seized gun-making machines, tools, and raw materials from the unit. Further investigation is underway, the sources added.
The accused are suspected to be from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Local said that the factory has been operating in the area for about a year and half.
