Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued heavy rainfall warning in Odisha in next 48 hours.
In a mid-day bulletin, the IMD said a well-marked low-pressure area over northern parts of East Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood now lies over central parts of north Madhya Pradesh and adjoining south Uttar Pradesh with associated cyclonic circulation tilting southwestwards.
Besides, a monsoon trough now passes through the centre of the well-marked low-pressure towards the south-east to the North Bay of Bengal. Under its influence, there will be heavy rainfall at one or two places over the north, north interior and south coastal districts in next 48 hours.
In view of the heavy rainfall warning, IMD has issued yellow warning for the following districts.
August 31
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur.
September 1
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur. Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul and Kandhamal.
September 2
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Malkangiri, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada.
