IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Warning For Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued heavy to very heavy rainfall warning at isolated places in Odisha for five days.
The IMD, in a mid-day bulletin, said that a cyclonic circulation lies over north coastal Odisha and neighbourhood towards the south-west. Another cyclonic circulation lies over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha coasts towards the south-west. Under its influence, a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the north-east Bay of Bengal in the next 48 hours around August 4, resulting in isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in the state till August 7.
The heavy rainfall warning for the following districts is as follows:
August 3
(Orange warning)
Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Kalahandi.
(Yellow warning)
Rayagada, Kandhamal, Balangir, Boudh, Ganjam, Puri, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada and Bhadrak.
August 4
(Orange warning)
Koraput, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi.
(Yellow warning)
Angul, Keonjhar, Puri, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Boudh, Bargarh and Dhenkanal.
August 5
(Yellow warning)
Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Bargarh and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada and Keonjhar.
August 6
(Yellow warning)
Koraput, Nabarangpur, Dhenkanal, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Cuttack.
August 7
(Yellow warning)
Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Bargarh and Koraput.
In view of the inclement weather, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Odisha coast and adjoining coastal Bay of Bengal from August 4 to 6 and those in deep sea have been advised to return to the coast by August 3, the bulletin said.
