Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow warnings for 15 districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 1.45 pm on Saturday.
Moderate thunderstorm/lightning accompanied by surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and light to moderate rain may affect some parts of Jajpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal and Cuttack (including Cuttack city).
The weather agency has warned of minor damage to loose/unsecured structures, banana trees and standing crops in these districts.
It further stated that light to moderate thunderstorm/lightning with gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph, and Light to moderate rain may also occur in some parts of Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Keonjhar, Angul, Deogarh, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Balasore, Kandhamal and Ganjam districts in next two hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places accordingly.
