Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm accompanied by gusty wind, lightning and rain is likely to lash at least nine districts of Odisha on Tuesday morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a nowcast warning.
In a message at 9.20 am, the weather agency has issued orange and yellow warnings for several districts, forecasting thunderstorms and strong winds in the next three hours.
Orange alert has been issued for Kendrapada, Bargarh, Jagatsinghpur, Nuapada, Sambalpur, and Balangir districts. These districts are likely to experience moderate thunderstorms with wind speeds of 40-50 kmph, lightning, and light to moderate rain. People are advised to be prepared for minor damage to weak structures, banana trees, and standing crops.
Similarly, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Puri have been issued a yellow alert, predicting light to moderate thunderstorms with wind speeds of 30-40 kmph, lightning, and light to moderate rain.
The IMD has advised people to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be prepared to move to safer places if necessary. They are also advised to protect themselves from lightning strikes and take precautions to prevent damage to structures and crops.
