IMD Issues Thunderstorm, Lightning Alert For Odisha; Rainfall Activity To Continue But No Relief From Scorching Heat

Bhubaneswar: The rain and thunderstorm forecast for the next few days may provide some relief to the people of Odisha reeling under scorching heating with the mercury soaring to 44 degree Celsius, the highest in India on Thursday.

Besides light to moderate rain, India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued yellow warning for thunderstorm and lightning for several districts in the state till 8.30 am on April 18.

The MeT office has also predicted no large change in the day temperature during the next five days. The maximum temperature will soar above 40 degree celsius and remain 2 to 3 degree Celsius above normal in Interior Odisha districts during the next 4 to 5 days, it added.
