Bhubaneswar: Conditions are favourable for further advancement of southwest monsoon over some more parts of Odisha during the next 2 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
The progress of monsoon was stalled for nearly two weeks after the early onset this year.
While heavy rain may resume in the state from Saturday, the weather agency has warned of intense spells of rain on June 16-18. Thunderstorm activity may continue till May 17.
The day temperature is also likely to dip further by 2-4 degree Celsius after 48 hours.
According to the IMD’s Extended Range Outlook (Cyclogenesis), a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal around June 16. The weather models suggest further intensification of the system into a low-pressure area over north Bay of Bengal by June 22.
Yellow warning has been issued for Odisha till May 18.
