Bhubaneswar: The Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, faculty of medical sciences of the SOA Deemed to be University here, has been adjudged the best affordable hospital in the state.
The hospital on Tuesday was awarded a trophy by the television channel Zee Odisha, for extending affordable treatment to the people. The state’s Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Naba Kishore Das presented the award to SOA’s Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amit Banerjee at a Health Conclave organised by the channel.
Prof. Ashok Mohapatra, eminent neuro surgeon and Director of SOA’s Health Programme, Sudhir M. Digikar, CEO for central region of Apollo Hospitals and Purushottam Vaishnav, CEO of Zee Media Corporation Private Limited attended the programme.
Three technical sessions on ‘Dangerous Killer Diseases and Effective Modalities for Survival’, ‘Challenges for Government and Private Hospitals to Provide Healthcare’ and ‘Peculiarities of Modern Lifestyle and Their Consequences on Health Outcome’ were held on the occasion. Prof. Pusparaj Samantasinhar, Medical Superintendent and Dr. Sunil Agrawal, Medical Oncologist of SUM Hospital participated in the deliberations. Prof. Ajay Kumar Jena, Additional Dean of IMS and SUM Hospital was also present.
