New Delhi: In a significant message from Chinese soil, India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval called out “double standards” in tackling terrorism.
In an obvious reference to Pakistan, Doval said that any act of terrorism, including cross-border terrorism, is a crime against humanity.
‘Double standards’ must be shunned in the fight against terrorism, advocated Doval, who is in China to attend a conclave of top national security officials of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member nations.
China is one of Pakistan’s biggest allies and partners, and helped block sanctions against them for backing terrorists.
Calling for joint information operations to counter terrorism, separatism and extremism, Doval asked member nations to take decisive actions against UN-proscribed terrorists and entities like LeT, JeM and their proxies and dismantle their terror eco-systems.
He appealed to SCO members to hold accountable perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of acts of cross-border terror and help bring them to justice.
Even during his meeting with Chinese Foreign minister Wang Yi on Monday, Doval emphasised the need to counter terrorism in all its forms for regional peace and stability.
India has been trying to send out a strong message to the rest of the world on the importance of countering terrorism.
Following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir on April 22, India carried out precision strikes on nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7. It led to a four-day military conflict between the two nations before ceasefire was agreed on by the DGMOs of both countries on May 10.
