Rourkela: People in large numbers could be seen on the route of senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as he resumed his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Odisha from near Rourkela SP office on Wednesday.

He then undertook a 3.4-km-long padayatra from Uditnagar to Panposh Chhak in the city.

The Gandhi scion also visited Vedvyas temple in Rourkela, which underscores his engagement with local religious and cultural sites as part of his regional political outreach, before addressing a public gathering at Panposh Chhak. He accused the Narendra Modi-led Union government and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s administration in Odisha of “running a partnership” to loot the state’s people. He said the Congress was fighting against the partnership.

After a lunch break at Bisra Munda Ground at Ranibandh, Rahul attended two more gatherings at Kutra and Baragaon later in the afternoon. He then resume his yatra from Ranibandh and undertook another 1-km padayatra from Rajgangpur to Sundargarh town this evening, where he garlanded the statue of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda.

After addressing a public meeting, he will retire for the night at Amlipali Ground in Jharsuguda.

On Thursday, Rahul will resume his yatra from Old Bus Stand in Jharsuguda and later address a rally. After lunch, he will resume his yatra from Kanaktora in Jharsuguda and then enter Chhattisgarh.

In Odisha, the yatra will cover around 200 km in the two western districts of Sundargarh and Jharsuguda.

Coming close on the heels of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge’s visit, Rahul’s Nyaya Yatra is expected to boost the morale of the party leaders and workers in Odisha ahead of the elections. Kharge visited Bhubaneswar on January 29 and addressed the Odisha Bachao Samavesh.

Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which began in Manipur on January 14, will conclude in Mumbai on March 20, covering about 15 states.
