According to a report in Hindustan Times, India is among 62 countries to have backed calls to identify how the Sars-CoV-2 virus — that causes Covid-19 — was transmitted from animals to human beings and also conduct an impartial evaluation of WHO’s response to the global pandemic.

The deadly coronavirus outbreak, which originated in China’s Wuhan city, has killed more than 3.1 million people so far.

US president has reiterated time and again that China is to blame for this global pandemic and that WHO did not play its part in alerting the world on time.

But this is the first time that India has articulated its stand on the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to diplomats based in WHO headquarter Geneva, a draft resolution has been signed by 62 countries — including Bangladesh, Canada, Russia, Indonesia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom and Japan – asking for transparency and accountability vis-à-vis the spread of the disease.

According to the HT report, the inquiry will be led by the European Union and Australia.says.
