New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam, who recently criticised the party’s leadership decisions, has said INDIA bloc has ceased to exist.
Expressing skepticism regarding the viability and effectiveness of the INDIA bloc, which was perceived as a political initiative aimed at uniting opposition forces against the ruling government, Krishnam said it contracted a lot of diseases right after its birth and subsequently found itself in a critical condition.
Discussing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s recent reversal, the spiritual leader and politician remarked that the JD(U) leader “laid it to rest” in Patna.
“I think there is no such thing as INDIA Alliance. When the alliance was created, it immediately contracted a lot of diseases right after its birth. Then it went to the ICU and ventilator. Nitish Kumar performed its (INDIA) last rites in Patna…I don’t think it exists anymore,” Krishnam told ANI.
Krishnam, who contested from Lucknow on Congress ticket and lost in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, has voiced criticism against various decisions made by the party. Those include the choice to abstain from attending the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya on January 22.
He recently made a pointed remark about the timing of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra by Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that while other political parties are gearing up for 2024 Lok Sabha elections, it appears that the Congress is getting ready for 2029 elections.
Last week, Krishnam met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and extended an invitation for the foundation stone laying ceremony of Shri Kalki Dham in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, on February 19.
“I had the privilege of inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the foundation stone laying ceremony of Shri Kalki Dham to be held on February 19. Heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the prime minister for accepting this,” he said in a post on X after the meeting.
Modi in his reply said, “It is a privilege for me to be a part of this sacred occasion associated with faith and devotion. Heartfelt gratitude to you Acharya Pramod ji for the invitation.”
