New Delhi: Amid concerns about the fast-spreading mutant strain of the coronavirus that emerged in UK, India resumed flight operations with that country on Friday.

An Air India flight from the UK landed in Delhi with 246 passengers on board after resumption of flight services, which were suspended on December 23 last year.

According to the government, 30 flights — 15 each by Indian and UK carriers —will operate every week. This will stand till January 23, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Puri has said.

The Delhi airport has advised passengers to keep a gap of at least 10 hours between their arrival from the UK and the connecting flight to their cities.

Also on Friday, the Union Health Ministry informed that the number of people who have tested positive for the new variant strain in the country has climbed to 82, NDTV reported.
