New Delhi: India on Thursday announced suspension of visa services to Pakistani nationals with immediate effect.
This is part of the retaliatory measures announced on Wednesday following the Cabinet Committee on Security meeting in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
“All existing valid visas issued by India to Pakistani nationals stand revoked with effect from April 27, 2025,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in an official statement.
Medical visas issued to Pakistani nationals will be valid only till April 29. “All Pakistani nationals currently in India must leave India before the expiry of visas, as now amended,” it further stated.
Indian nationals have also been strongly advised against travelling to Pakistan. “Those Indian nationals currently in Pakistan are also advised to return to India at the earliest,” it added.
Earlier in the day, Pakistani nationals were seen arriving at Attari-Wagah border to return to their country following suspension of the SAARC visa exemption scheme (SVES). They have been asked to leave India within 48 hours.
