Mumbai: Kamal Haasan is set to return as Senapathy in Indian 3, with Lyca Productions confirming the revival of the much-anticipated third instalment directed by Shankar.
Lyca Productions unveiled the posters on Thursday, officially announcing that the third chapter of the franchise is back on track.
The makers wrote, “Senapathy is back with zero tolerance. The resurgence begins.”
The announcement comes after an uncertain phase for the franchise. Indian 2, which released in July 2024, underperformed at the box office and raised questions over the future of Indian 3.
The latest update, however, puts those doubts to rest, with the makers confirming that the film will now move forward.
Kamal Haasan will reprise his iconic role as Senapathy, the ageing vigilante he first portrayed in Shankar’s 1996 film Indian.
The third instalment will also see the return of several actors from Indian 2, including SJ Suryah, Siddharth as Chitra Aravindhan, Priya Bhavani Shankar as Aarthi Thangavel and Bobby Simha.

The Indian franchise began with Shankar’s 1996 film, in which Kamal Haasan essayed two contrasting characters — Senapathy, a former freedom fighter who turns vigilante, and his corrupt son.
Twenty-eight years later, Kamal Haasan and Shankar reunited for Indian 2. The sequel was released in Tamil as well as Bharateeyudu in Telugu, continuing Senapathy’s story and bringing the character back to the big screen.
With Lyca Productions now officially reviving Indian 3, the franchise is set to continue with its third chapter, with Kamal Haasan once again stepping into the role of Senapathy.
