Indian Cricketers Test COVID Negative, Fifth Test To Go Ahead

Mumbai: The players of the Indian team have tested COVID-19 negative after fresh RT-PCR test reports that came around 5.30 pm UK time.

The match came under serious threat after the visitors called off a training session and media commitments after reports of a fresh COVID-19 case that involved a support staff member on Thursday, reported The Times of India.

However, according to an ECB spokesman, all subsequent RT-PCR tests of the India squad had yielded negative results and that the Test match “goes ahead”.

Panic gripped the Indian squad when the team’s assistant physiotherapist Yogesh Parmar tested positive on Wednesday evening. India’s training session on Thursday was cancelled and the entire team went into quarantine. The team members locked themselves in their rooms at Manchester’s Radisson Hotel.

Earlier, India head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach Ramakrishnan Sridhar had tested COVID-19 positive in London.
