Tehran: The Indian Embassy in Iran on Saturday urged all Indian nationals in the country to stay indoors and exercise extreme caution following joint military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets.
In a post on X, the embassy said: “In view of the developing situation, all Indian nationals in Iran are advised to exercise utmost caution, avoid unnecessary movements and remain indoors as far as possible.”
The advisory warned people to refrain from venturing out unless absolutely necessary and to steer clear of sensitive or crowded areas. The embassy also asked Indian citizens to keep track of developments through reliable news sources, maintain awareness of their surroundings, and stay ready for any further instructions from the Embassy of India.
The move came after Israel and the US launched a joint strike on multiple Iranian sites, including military installations, missile‑production facilities, and areas near Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s office in Tehran. Reports from the Iranian capital said several ministries in southern Tehran were hit, and residents heard powerful blasts, which further heightened public anxiety.
US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the US had begun “major combat operations in Iran” after Israel’s initial strikes. He also called on the Iranian people to “take over the government,” adding to the already tense atmosphere in the region. The strikes are seen as a direct escalation following a pre‑emptive Israeli operation that targeted several locations inside Iran, including in its capital.
