Bhubaneswar: Team Odisha bagged silver medal in the 4x100m mixed relay event at the 2nd Indian Open Relay Competition 2025, held in Chandigarh on Wednesday.
Bonita Lakra, Manisha Merel, Abhinash Sahu and DM Jayaram, who train at the Odisha Reliance Foundation Athletics HPC, finished second in the newly-introduced event.
Odisha had more reasons to be happy as Animesh Kujur and his Reliance teammates Gurindervir Singh, Manikanta Hoblidhar and Amlan Borgohain set a 4x100m national record in challenging conditions.
The four fastest men in Indian athletics clocked 38.69 seconds to finish on top in the men’s relay event at the Sector 7 Stadium here.
Gurindervir, Animesh Manikanta and Amlan bettered the previous record of 38.89 seconds set at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Animesh recently rewrote the men’s 200m national record at the Federation Cup meet in Kochi to qualify for next month’s Asian Athletics Championship.
