Indian Railways Unveils Images Of Vistadome Tourist Coaches
New Delhi: Union Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal posted images of the new Vistadome coaches that have windows on the roof for a panoramic view of surroundings.
The Indian Railways has successfully completed a 180 kmph trial run of these new tourist coaches. Manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), it has modern features such as air spring suspension for better ride comfort, large glass windows, transparent roofs, rotatable seats, digital display screens, wider entrance doors, GPS based public address-cum-passenger information system.
These coaches will make train journeys memorable and also help boost tourism. These will be used on select routes including the Nilgiri Mountain Railway line, Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, Kalka-Shimla Railway, Kangra Valley Railway, Matheran Hill Railway, between Dadar in Mumbai and Madgaon in Araku Valley as well as in the Kashmir Valley.
“Journey is best measured in terms of memories rather than miles,” said Goyal.
