New Delhi: With an overnight surge of 81,484 COVID-19 cases, India’s affected tally inched closer to the 64-lakh mark to stand at 63,94,068 on Friday.
Also, 1,095 people across the country succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday. The fresh deaths took the toll to 98,678.
Meanwhile, India’s recovery rate is 83.70 per cent, the highest in the world. The fatality rate, on the other hand, is 1.56 per cent.
Besides, 53,52,078 people have recovered from the infection so far with 78,877 being discharged on Tuesday. Another 14.74 per cent (9,42,217) are still under treatment.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 7,67,17,728 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, including 10,97,947 on Thursday.
