New Delhi: The COVID-19 tally in the country went up to 5,85,493 with the addition of 18,653 new cases in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.
Meanwhile, 507 new fatalities across the country since Friday took the toll to 17,400, the ministry added.
According to ICMR, 88,26,585 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, including 2,17,931 on Tuesday.
At present, there are 2,20,114 active cases in the country and 3,47,978 patients have recovered from the infection.
The average positivity rate (the ratio of positive cases to the number of tests conducted) stood at 8.80 per cent.
Maharashtra tally too has increased to 1.74 lakh with the addition of 4,878 new patients while the death toll is up by 245.
