Karachi: The controversy over India’s misfired missile, which landed on Pakistani soil earlier this week, refuses to die.
Prime Minister Imran Khan waded into the controversy on Sunday, saying that Pakistan decided to show restraint rather than retaliate.
“We could have responded after an Indian missile fell in Mian Channu but we observed restraint,” Imran said while addressing a public rally in Hafizabad district amid a no-confidence motion he faces from the Opposition.
“We have to make our defence and country strong,” Imran added.
An Indian supersonic missile entered Pakistani territory and hit a private property near Mian Channu, around 275 km from Lahore.
No loss of life was reported.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office stated on Saturday it was not satisfied with India’s “simplistic explanation” on the “accidental firing” of the missile and demanded a joint probe to accurately establish facts.
