Nagpur: An IndiGo flight en route from Kochi to Delhi made an emergency landing in Nagpur on Tuesday morning following a bomb threat, PTI reported.
According to a statement by CIAL, the threat was received via its official email ID concerning the IndiGo flight. The aircraft had arrived from Muscat and departed for Delhi at 9.31 am carrying 157 passengers and six crew members. A Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was convened, and the threat was deemed “specific,” CIAL told Hindustan Times.
“The information was promptly communicated to relevant authorities, following which the flight made an emergency landing at Nagpur airport and is currently undergoing inspection,” the statement added.
After the completion of the necessary security checks, the aircraft would proceed to its destination in Delhi.
Air India Flight From Ahmedabad To London cancelled
Meanwhile, Air India flight 159 from Ahmedabad to London was cancelled on Tuesday. Several passengers were stranded at the airport.
“I was travelling to Gatwick, London, on the 1 pm Air India flight, but I have just learned that it has been cancelled. The crew members did not provide any reason for the cancellation or details about a fare refund,” a passenger told ANI.
Earlier, an Air India flight from San Francisco to Mumbai was forced to deplane passengers during a scheduled halt at Kolkata airport due to a technical snag. The glitch was reportedly found in one of its engines.
Flight AI180 landed on time at 12:45 am. But a fault in the left engine of the Boeing 777-300 led to a delay in take-off.
“When it was finally realised that the technical snag could not be rectified immediately, special permission was taken from the authorities concerned, and then all passengers on board were disembarked,” an Air India official told PTI.
