New Delhi: India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has introduced a new ‘Lite’ fare category for economy passengers travelling with only cabin baggage, offering a lower-cost option for flyers who do not require checked-in luggage.
The airline announced that the new fare will be available for bookings made exclusively through its direct channels, including its website, mobile application and contact centre, starting July 1. The fare will be applicable for travel from July 15. The luggage limit for these tickets will be 7kg. This be applicable for direct flights, both domestic and international.
The ‘Lite’ fare will be offered across IndiGo’s domestic and international non-stop routes for one-way, round-trip and multi-city journeys. It will be available for both adult and child passengers. Under this fare, travellers will be allowed to carry only cabin baggage, while checked-in baggage can be purchased separately if required.
The move is aimed at passengers who travel light and prefer to pay only for the services they use. By unbundling baggage from the ticket price, the airline hopes to provide a more affordable travel option for budget-conscious customers.
