New Delhi: IndiGo reportedly endured one of its worst days in its flying history on Saturday.
Airline operations were crippled to such an extent that as many as 900 flights were delayed because of non-availability of cabin crew and staff, ANI reported. That is, over 50% of flights faced timing issues, as the popular budget airline operates around 1600 flights in a day.
According to ET Now, IndiGo continued to face staff-related issues on Sunday too. The airline has not yet responded to queries on the prevailing situation.
IndiGo, the market leader in domestic sector, has a reputation for its service, including punctuality.
Of the 1.20 crore passengers who availed domestic flights in May 2022, IndiGo’s share was around 70 lakh, or 57.9%, followed by Go First with 12.76 lakh passengers (10.8%), as per DGCA data.
SpiceJet, another budget carrier, delivered the highest passenger load factor or seat factor – which is the average percentage of seats filled in an aircraft — at 89.1% followed by Go First at 86.5%, as per DGCA data.
