Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday effected a minor reshuffle in the top bureaucracy.
According to a General Administration notification, Bargarh Collector Yamini Sarangi is transferred and reposted as Collector of Jagatsinghpur while Indramani Tripathy is appointed as the new Collector of Bargarh.
Former Bargarh Collector Khagendra Padhi, who was replaced by Yamini Sarangi following the directive of the Election Commission, has been posted as Additional Secretary, School and Mass Education, the notification added.
It may be recalled that prior to the Bijepur byelection, the Election Commission had asked the state government for removal of the Bargarh Collector Khagendra Padhi following a complaint by a delegation of the State BJP leaders in New Delhi on January 30 alleging that he was influencing the voters on behalf of the ruling BJD government as its agent.
The EC later had asked the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar to direct the State General Administration Department to send the name of three IAS officers along with their detailed service records.
The Commission, after receiving the list, recommended Jagatsinghpur Collector Yamini Sarangi as the new Collector of Bargarh.
